NORTHVILLE — Area not-for-profit Search and Rescue Team 5-1 received a donation from the Johnstown Fraternal Order of Eagles during the team’s spring training weekend.

Don Blaise, vice president of the Johnstown Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1575, presented a $3,000 check on May 2 to Team 5-1. The team was holding its annual spring training at the former location of founding member John Washburn’s Trailhead Lodge when the gift was made. The funds will be used for needed repairs to the team headquarters and training center in the town of Johnstown.

Search Team 5-1 is an organization of volunteers who are trained to assist the state Department of Environmental Conservation and other agencies in the search of lost, missing or at-risk individuals. The organization relies on team dues, fundraisers and donations to purchase necessary field equipment and provide required ongoing training to its members.
