Drop-off cleanup program planned
MAYFIELD — The town and village of Mayfield and the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste will co-sponsor a drop-off clean-up program on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the town barn, according to a news release.
The Thursday and Friday hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday hours will be 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Disposal containers will be available to town and village residents only, as the program is not open to commercial haulers, businesses or institutions. The residents may bring old furniture, appliances, garage and attic cleanup projects, and do-it-yourself home improvement project materials such as siding, shingles and lumber. Proof of residency will be required, the news release stated.
This will be the only cleanup program offered in the town during this year, according to officials at the Department of Solid Waste, the news release stated.
Electronics will be accepted for recycling. Old appliances must be placed separately from garbage, as old stoves, refrigerators, freezers and bulky metals are recycled. It is requested that residents remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers before bringing them to this program, and remove all food products, the news release stated.
The following items are not acceptable for this program: vehicle batteries, tires, paint, motor oil, curbside recyclables or regular weekly trash, the news release stated.
Electronics are also accepted year round at all transfer stations, and at the Department of Solid Waste, during regular operating hours. Residents are reminded that the Latex Paint Exchange will run from June through August on Saturday mornings at the department, the news release stated.
