Book signing set in Speculator
SPECULATOR — Area author Maurice Hebert and illustrator Megan Tennant will be at the Timberline Cafe and Bakery at 4 p.m. July 6 for beverages and signing of their new children’s book “What Would I Do? An A to Z Journey,” according to a news release.
Timberline’s owners, Tammy and Jerry Garren, recently became aware of Tennant’s illustration work for the children’s book authored by Maurice Hebert, and are showcasing the work, the news release said.
“The rhyming text and the illustrations of this book work wonderfully together to bring up imaginative questions for young readers to answer,” Hebert said in the news release. “Vocational training starts in a child’s imagination. Imagine if you were a firefighter and glanced up at a cat dangling from a banner high above the ground, what would you do?
“Children love exploring options to various situations, and their responses to similar questions are surprising and oftentimes humorous,” Hebert said.
Maurice works in the area in the food-service industry and is pursuing retirement by growing a list of titles for his newly formed company, Mograce Publishing.
Tennant brings the book’s scenarios to life with her illustrations, the release said. A graduate of Houghton College, Tennant has a dual degree in English literature and art and is now freelancing upstate. Two of Tennant’s original watercolor paintings are in the cafe, and her watercolors of Adirondack scenes are for sale.
