The Meher-Dallman 75th family reunion takes place

GLOVERSVILLE — The Meher-Dallman 75th family reunion took place July 30, 2016, at the Pleasant Square Firehouse. There were approximately 105 who attended from Gloversville, Johnstown, Northville, Caroga Lake, Edinburg, Oppenheim; Ballston Lake and Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County; Liverpool, Onondaga County; Utica, Oneida County: California, Massachusetts and Colorado.

Pete Meher was presented with a gift from Cindy Scunziano. He was youngest member (8 months old) when he attended the first reunion in 1941. Special bookmarks were given to everyone commemorating this reunion anniversary. The members attending noted are as follows: Mary Lou Sweet at age 84, eldest; Liam Nethaway, age 1, youngest; Jason and Carol Lambert of Massachusetts, newlyweds; and Missy, Dave, Lily and Kalyn Rich, from Huntington Beach, Calif., furthest travelled.

Since last year:

∫ A birth: Lily Sophia Ayure, born Aug. 15, 2015, the daughter of Haley (Meher) and Heydon Ayure; the granddaughter of Wayne and Qui Meher, the first great-grandchild of Al and Betty Meher.

∫ Two weddings: Carol Meher (daughter of Al and Betty Meher) and Jason Lambert of Massachusetts, married Aug. 20, 2015. Jon Lang and Catherine Meher (daughter of Phillip and Michelle Meher of New Hampshire, granddaughter of Al and Betty Meher of Massachusetts) married April 30, 2016. The couple will reside in Piermont, Rockland County.

∫ Renewed wedding vows: Brenda (daughter of Pete and Jeannie Meher, granddaughter of Arlene and Delbert Meher, and great-great-granddaughter of Joseph and Bessie Meher) and Joe Wayno, on Sept. 6, 2015, along with 105 other couples from their camping group, on Brennan Beach, Pulaski, Oswego County.

∫ Wedding anniversaries: Al and Betty Meher, their 59th on Nov. 17, 2015; Kelly (daughter of Candy and the late Paul Meher Sr., granddaughter of Arlene Dutcher and Delbert Meher, and great-great-granddaughter of Joseph and Bessie Meher) and Dan Hilts, their 25th.

∫ Graduations: Chelsea Bentley from Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville High School; Cheyenne Hayes and Morgan Wilson from Northville High School; Rebecca Beddow from Gloversville High School; and Sarah Green from Broadalbin-Perth High School.

∫ Military service: Philip Meher and Rebecca Piazza of the U.S. Army, Peter Piazza of the U.S. Air Force.

Stephen (retired from the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department after 30 years of service) and wife Cheryl Meher, formerly of Massachusetts, moved to Sunset Beach, N.C.

Phillip and Michele Meher’s son recently became ordained.

“Happy Birthday” was sung to Jackson Meher, age 3; to Candy Meher and to Nick Javarone.

There was a 50-50 raffle, basket raffles and lotto scratch-off tickets raffle. Prizes were given to the funniest hat, largest hat and smallest hat. The event included the Bouncy House, cupcake decorating with Verna Meher; kids’ games with Jody DiMarco; and a scavenger hunt with Cindy Scunziano. A hand painted “family tree” started, and everyone signed and placed their own leaf on the tree. The tree will be at the reunion every year for anyone who was not here this year to place their leaf on the tree.

The committee members were Carol Lambert, Gail Peters, Jody DiMarco, Cindy Scunziano and Belynda Javarone.

This year’s reunion will be on July 29, at the same time and same place. The committee members: Carol Lambert, Jason Lambert, Gail Peters, Jody DiMarco, Cindy Scunziano, Sherry Walters and Belynda Javarone.
