Hill & Markes gives back to community

AMSTERDAM — Hill & Markes, a family-owned wholesale distributor, donated more than $1,000 in funds and gifts for City Mission of Schenectady this holiday season.

The local company fundraised through their Community Cares merchandise store and through the generosity of their employees and ownership.

“As we head into this New Year, we are so grateful for amazing friends like Hill & Markes who helped to make this Christmas season very special for our residents,” said Jessica Toomajian, Director of Annual Fund at City Mission, in a news release. “After a very difficult year, I think having presents to open at Christmastime meant even more than usual for the men, women and children we serve. We appreciate Hill & Markes for taking the time during this busy time of year to shop and put together these wonderful packages for our residents.”

Hill & Markes is committed to bringing much needed support to those struggling throughout the pandemic, especially throughout the holidays. Lifting the community is important to the Hill & Markes mission and remains a core pillar of the company. Hill & Markes is always looking to partner with local organizations and businesses that provide helpful resources to community members.

“As a Hill & Markes customer, we have seen the quality of the products they provide us. Even more importantly, as a community organization, we have seen their hearts for helping our neighbors in need and making a difference in the lives of the people we serve,” noted Mike Saccocio, Executive Director at City Mission, in the release. “Through providing Christmas gifts for local families, donating specialized cleaning equipment and supporting fundraising events, we are grateful for our partnership with Hill & Markes.”
