AMSTERDAM – Amazon’s new delivery station in Amsterdam is officially open for business, welcoming associates inside the 53,000 square-foot building to celebrate its Day One of operation.

The delivery station at 1785 State Highway 5S will create more than 175 full and part-time associate jobs, all paying at least $15.00 per hour, in addition to hundreds of driver opportunities for Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex drivers.

Delivery stations power the last mile of Amazon’s order process and help speed up deliveries for customers. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.

Delivery stations offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.

In celebration of the Amsterdam station launch, Amazon donated $10,000 to The Greater Amsterdam School District, enabling them to provide school supplies for 3,800 K-12 students.

Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 24,000 jobs in New York and invested more than $7.1 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation.

These investments have contributed an additional $5.7 billion to the New York economy and have helped create 17,400 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires — from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services. In addition, more than 111,000 independent authors and small and medium businesses in New York are selling to customers in Amazon’s store, creating thousands of additional jobs across the state.
