Irish-themed lunch slated for March 17
CAROGA LAKE — The Nick Stoner Seniors met Tuesday, a stormy day, with Mary Lou Paterson, vice president, presiding. Paterson led the group in “The Lord’s Prayer” and the Pledge of Allegiance followed by refreshments served by the town office crew.
Following refreshments, the meeting opened at 1 p.m.
Marion Snell gave a highlighted secretary report and was accepted. Shirley Holliday gave the treasury report. Jean Griffin gave the hospitality report.
The refreshment committee for the next meeting, March 3, will be Jeannine Schwartz and Holliday. The seniors will have leftover desserts from the freezer.
Also on March 17, the group is having a St. Patrick’s Day Irish theme luncheon. The calling committee will be calling to remind people.
Paterson gave the sunshine report. She sent five cards out this month.
In new business, Griffin discussed going back to having the meetings at 1 p.m. instead of at noon; a few members have requested it. John Schwartz made a motion to change back to 1 p.m. starting with the April 7, meeting and Joyce Barret seconded it. The majority was in favor and the motion passed.
Edna Bennett and Janice McLoughlin were attending the Browns tour show; there was no pen pal or trip report.
There were 11 members and six guests present. Everyone did their own raffle tickets.
The meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m. The winners were Bonnie Jaros and John Schwartz. Schwartz donated the winning to the club.
