Don Williams to speak on Thursday
JOHNSTOWN — The following events are for the Johnstown 50 Plus Club, located in the Shirley J. Luck Senior Center, 109 E. Main St.
The following Year of the Glove event is free and open to the public.
∫ At 1 p.m. Thursday, Don Williams, local Adirondack guide, author and historian, will give a presentation about the experiences he had growing up in a glove shop during Fulton County’s glove and leather industry hey-day.
∫ At 5 p.m. Nov. 21, the club will have a Thanksgiving covered dish dinner. The attendees should bring a large dish to pass around and share; their own place setting; and are invited to dress up as either a Pilgrim or Native American. Anyone who wants to attend this event is to RSVP with the senior center office by Nov. 18.
∫ At noon Dec. 4, the club will have a decorate for Christmas luncheon at the center. The lunch will be put on by the center staff and then those who attend can decorate the center for the upcoming holiday season as a group. Everyone is invited to bring an ornament from home to hang on the center tree. There will also be an angel tree where attendees can purchase an angel for $3 to hang on the tree in honor or memory of a loved one. A hat and mitten tree will also be on premises to hang hats or mittens on which will be donated to needy school children. Those who plan to attend can RSVP with the senior center office no later than Nov. 29.
