Trip to Schoharie slated for Thursday
MAYFIELD — The Bannertown 50 Plus Seniors met on Aug. 28, for a social hour, Office for the Aging luncheon and meeting.
Evie Leach, chaplain, opened lunch with the devotion “God’s Faith in Me.” “The Lord’s Prayer” followed.
After the luncheon, President Carl Edwards opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Becky White from the OFA was present and spoke on topics ranging from dates on many activities the OFA will be doing to the Home Energy Assistance Program starting on Nov. 12. She also gave out information on the difference between hospice and palliative care. The open insurance enrollment starts on Oct. 15, and runs through Dec. 7.
Ann Mallin, sunshine chairman, had no reason to send out any get well cards.
Nancy Hayes, vice president, gave the roll call.
Lorrie Valk, secretary, and Joan Bezio, treasurer, gave their reports and were accepted.
Leach mentioned the cookie committee for the next meeting on Wednesday, will be Carol Abraham and Kathy Leggerio. The group will be having an end of the year auction. Bring something that has to do with the end of the summer.
Valk mentioned the trip to Schoharie on Thursday. Those attending will be leaving the Mayfield parking lot on North Main Street, by 9 a.m.
The Pidgeon Forge signup sheet is now available. The trip will be May 3 to 9, 2020. Anyone who wants information about the trip can contact Valk at (518) 661-5339 or Bezio at (518) 725-6918.
Everyone gave a shout out to Abraham, who will be retiring.
The meeting adjourned. The winners were Janet Betler, the door prize; and Mallin, 50-50. Both members donated their winnings back.
