Mac-Haydn Theatre trip set for July 25
CAROGA LAKE — The Nick Stoner Seniors meeting on July 2, was called to order by Grace Eglin at noon with “The Lord’s Prayer,” Pledge of Allegiance and Hello to your Neighbor with 20 members and one guest present.
The guest speaker was a representative from the Office for the Aging who brought the Farmers Market coupons for everyone to signup for and discussed the annual picnic for the OFA from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 1, at the Concordia Club and had tickets available for $7.
Marion Snell gave the secretary’s report and Shirley Holliday gave the treasury report; both were accepted. Jean Griffin gave the hospitality report. The annual picnic at the Glen Harris Park will be at noon Tuesday with a red, white and blue theme.
Mary Lou Paterson gave the sunshine report. She sent out eight birthday cards and one anniversary card for this month.
Eglin gave the trip report. The trip to McHaydn Theatre is July 25. There are 19 people who have signed up and there are nine tickets still available if anyone wants to signup. Those interested do not have to be a member to attend. Will leave Johnstown McDonald’s at 9:30 a.m. and leave Caroga Town Hall at 10 a.m.
Old business: Linda Rhinehart couldn’t attend the meeting; ordering T-shirts with the Nick Stoner Seniors logo was put on hold to the next meeting.
Janice McLaughlin made a motion to order dictionaries for the third graders of Wheelerville Union Free School now so they are in by September. The motion was accepted; Eglin will order them.
New business: Barbara Haught is the chairperson for the 80 plus luncheon on Sept. 17. She will check on prices and a place to have it. She will report the results on Tuesday.
The club will be hosting the October meeting of the Fulton County Senior Council. Griffin and Barbara McFee will be in charge of the refreshments.
Paterson made a motion to have a bake sale on Nov. 5, Election Day and it passed. John Schwartz made a motion to make that an annual Election Day event and that was accepted also.
The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m. Sharon Fenstermaker took attendance and sold raffle tickets. Griffin and Paterson were the raffle winners. The refreshments were served by Bonnie Jaros, Judy Elmendorf and Holliday. Myrtle Dermott made the birthday cake as McFee couldn’t attend. After the refreshments were served, Eglin called bingo.
