Make your own sundaes on Aug. 7

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on Wednesday, with 63 members attending which included three new members. The prayer was offered by Chaplain Marsha Prokop, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by President Toni Hallenbeck.

Lunch was served.

The meeting was called to order by Hallenbeck, who did the roll call and welcomed new members, Joan Alley, Donna Puglisi and Lynda Rusk.

The minutes were read by Nancy Weiss, secretary. Jennifer Gilston, treasurer, gave the report.

In the absence of Carol Cramer, birthday committee, Marilyn Quinn announced the names of members with birthdays this month. The members sang “Happy Birthday.”

Judy Rosenzweig, program committee, announced the un-birthday party with make-your-own sundaes, donated by Stewart’s, will be held on Aug. 7. The members are asked to bring in a new wrapped gift costing around $10 to the party. These gifts will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Christmas party. The 50-50 raffle was won by Rusk.

Gee Gee Lafferty, summer picnic committee, announced 58 members have signed up for the picnic on July 24 at the Broadalbin American Legion pavilion. The signup sheet is still available.

Hallenbeck, trip committee, announced the bus for the Mac Haydn Theatre on Thursday, will leave the visitor center at 11 a.m. The Aug. 6, trip to Raquette Lake will leave the visitor center at 8:30 a.m. Arrive 15 minutes earlier before these trips.

In old business, the donations were collected for the Broadalbin Methodist Church Food Pantry, as the group does the first week of every month.

In new business, the festival at St Joseph’s Church will be from 5 to 9 p.m. July 25, 26, and 27.

From the floor, Sara Schopmeier announced the historical society ice cream social will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting adjourned.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 7, at the First Presbyterian Church, Broadalbin. Anyone who wants a meal offered by the Office for the Aging, call (518) 736-5650 by 9 a.m. day of the meeting.
