Anniversary dinner slated for Friday

MAYFIELD –On April 10, the Mayfield Bannertown 50+ Seniors met. They enjoyed a social hour and then the Office for the Aging luncheon and meeting. Chaplain Evie Leach opened the meal with the devotion “I am alone and need your companionship” followed by the Lord’s Prayer.

Becky White from the OFA spoke on new information regarding Medicare and second and third opinions. She mentioned about the barn quilt trips sponsored this year by the OFA. Call the OFA for more information.

President Carl Edwards opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Nancy Hayes, Vice-President read the roll call.

Ann Mallin, Sunshine chairman sent out two sympathy cards.

Both Lorrie Valk, Secretary and Joan Bezio, Treasurer gave their reports and were accepted.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday and ice cream cake will be served along with a surprise activity.

Valk asked if interested members would let her know if they are going to go on the Virginia trip. She needs to know the numbers. Nila Edwards and Bezio have worked on the anniversary dinner. It will be on Friday at 5 p.m. at Sam’s Seafood Steakhouse. There is a choice of five entrees to choose from. The charge if $20. The money is due at the Wednesday meeting.

An AARP driving course was discussed and Edwards will look into it.

A motion was made to adjourn and drawings were held with Jeff Leach winning the Door Prize which he donated back to the club and Nancy McWilliams the 50/50. Bingo was played.

The group meets every other Wednesday at the Mayfield Municipal Building on School Street at 11 a.m.
