JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown police are searching for a veiled individual who allegedly broke into at least seven vehicles over the weekend.

Police said that an unidentified person attempted to open a series of cars on Market Street and Pleasant Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Monday. It’s not clear if any items were stolen.

“As of right now, we’re still working on it,” said Johnstown police Sgt. Michael Pedrick.

Details on the alleged intruder are still uncertain. Pedrick said on Monday that the investigation is still in its infancy.

Video footage shows the suspect was fully covered. They appeared to wear a bomber jacket and sneakers.

Police are interviewing potential witnesses.

“The officers are still trying to find more videos to see if maybe he let his guard down just walking by someone's house and maybe dropped his mask or something so we could get a better view,” Pedrick said. “But everywhere we've seen so far, he's looked exactly the same way and he's well covered.”

One dirt bike on the block was also reported missing on Sunday morning. It was later located on the Fonda, Johnstown & Gloversville Rail Trail, according to Pedrick.
