SARATOGA SPRINGS - If you’re heading to SPAC this summer, you’ll find a new addition to the concessions menu: CVT Soft Serve.

Founded by Niskayuna native Joe Nicchi, CVT has been named the official ice cream of Live Nation Amphitheaters. Packaged in pouches, CVT2Go offers the texture and rich flavor of traditional soft serve.

“Whether it’s someone’s first show or their hundredth time seeing their favorite band, I’m excited to bring CVT Soft Serve to fans nationwide, making life’s most unforgettable moments a little sweeter,” said Nicchi in a press release.

Live Nation has become an equity partner in the company, which is run by Nicchi and a small crew. Founded in Los Angeles in 2014, CVT — chocolate, vanilla, twist — was first sold out of vintage food trucks that were rehabbed with the two-tone design that’s become synonymous with the brand. Over the years, CVT has garnered a celebrity following including Bill Murray and Jimmy Kimmel.

“Every season, we look at new ways to improve the fan experience at our venues and this includes curating menu items that are perfect complements to outdoor shows,” said Andy Yates, Live Nation’s head of food and beverage. “Thanks to our partnership with CVT Soft Serve, we’re offering an innovative twist on a classic treat that we know fans are going to enjoy.”

CVT2Go, which comes in vanilla and chocolate, is also sold in select grocery stores. The Niskayuna Co-op became the first store in the Capital Region to stock it last week and sold out of its first shipment in a matter of days. It’s since been restocked.
