Summer learning for students
Computers, robotics, arts, games, Legos, music, theater and much more. Top that off with the friendships made at summer camp and top notch instructors and that’s what you get for six weeks at FM Summer Academy. All that for a reasonable price tag.
For several years, FM has offered our local students the opportunity to keep their minds active over summer break. FM Summer Academy now offers the academy program from July 9 to Aug. 17. That is a six week chunk of summer vacation where students can stay active, learn a variety of activities, and grow friendships.
Each week, incoming grades 3 through 8 students are offered a variety of morning and afternoon classes. Students select from 3 to 4 morning offerings and 3 to 4 afternoon offerings appropriate to their age group. Age groups are broken down into grades 3 through 6 and 7 and 8.
Instructors are recruited for their passion for their activity along with their knowledge in their subject area.
Most of our instructors are certified teachers from local school districts as well as HFM BOCES. They are leaders in their subject area, professional and all about their area of specialization that they bring to camp.
Some of those specialized areas include Learning to Make a Music Video, Computer Construction, Cartoon Animation, Robotics, Spanish, Cooking for Kids, Painting, Clay, Math, Outdoor Games, Video Game Design and many others(for a full list, see our website).
As dedicated as the instructors at our Summer Academy are, this is a great effort which requires the combined efforts of the entire campus. Administration, admissions, bursar, registrar, human resources, technology and facilities all work together to make this summer experience possible.
Fulton-Montgomery Community College is deeply committed to providing the Summer Academy Program for the benefit of our local students.
