Loopie’s Irish Pub, located at 410 Mohawk Drive in Tribes Hill, is hosting its 17th annual soup and chili cook-off on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
According to Loopie’s, a $10 donation is being asked for the all-you-can-eat event.
Currently, the pub has 16 entries, but is expecting more, said Mary Lou Crane, a.k.a Loopie.
“We have enough cookers now, but some come last-minute,” she said. “Last year, we had 21 entries.”
All proceeds from the event will go to the Montgomery County SPCA.
Maureen Rossi of the MCSPCA said all proceeds earned go to help the shelter.
“It will go to our general operating expenses,” she said. “This is the best use as we are still trying to nail down the various changes in costs associated with operating in the new building.”
The MCSPCA celebrated the newly constructed building at 111 Cleveland Ave. in Amsterdam on Dec. 2, 2023.
The new building features a larger adoption area for cats and dogs, quarantine areas for new intakes, a surgical area, a wide reception area and designated break room for employees.
Prizes for Sunday's best soup and best chili will be awarded at the event.
