Youth wrestling program offered
JOHNSTOWN — The Fonda-Johnstown youth wrestling program take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Fonda-Fultonville Middle School gym.
The registration fee will be $20 (cash only) and participants are required to fill out a youth wrestling application, as well as a youth wrestling contract and permission form.
The program is open for Fonda-Fultonville students in second through six grades and Johnstown students in fourth through sixth grades.
Youth interested in signing up may do so at practice, which will run from 5 to 7 p.m., except on days of a varsity match when it will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
The program will introduce the sport for folkstyle wrestling and teach basic wrestling skills. Agility and strength drills also will be incorporated into the instructional program.
The program will focus on teaching wrestling techniques, developing basic skills and having fun.
Participants should wear T-shirts and shorts.
Registrations will be accepted until Jan. 25.
