Youth baseball sign-ups today
AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Youth Baseball League will hold an in-person registration for the upcoming fall season Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the concession stand at Isabel’s Field.

The league plans on taking advantage of the better late August weather with new season start times.
Fall baseball will start Aug. 19 and end in mid-October. There will be no baseball played over the Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends.
There were a league-record 18 teams competing in fall baseball last season and its encouraged that all players sign up early to guarantee a spot for the upcoming fall season. Teams from Broadalbin, Johnstown, Galway, Duanesburg, Fonda and Amsterdam all competed last season. New teams from Mayfield and Gloversville are expected to compete this fall.
Ages for the 2018 season will be used for fall baseball. If a 10-year-old competed in Minors this past spring, he or she will compete in the Majors Division for fall ball. If an 8-year-old competed in Rookies this spring, he or she will compete in the Minors Division. If a 12-year-old competed in Majors this past spring, he or she will have aged out and not be eligible to play.
The majors, minors and rookies divisions will field teams. T-Ball may be available, depending on numbers.
Registration is $55 for Rookies and $60 for majors and minors.
All Amsterdam teams will receive a shirt and hat for the the fall season.
