FP/OESJ records WAC victory over Northville

ST. JOHNVILLE — Fort Plain/Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville opened its Western Athletic Conference campaign with a 15-1 victory over Northville on Thursday.

Michaela Stockwell threw a two-hitter and connected for two doubles and two RBIs to lead FP/OESJ to the victory. Fontana LaCoppola added a double, single and an RBI, while Abagail Johnson had a single and two RBIs and Abagail Countryman added two singles. Alexis Klock chipped in with a single and two RBIs and Jenna Reese added a single and an RBI.

Jessica Miller and Selena Allen both singled to account for Northville’s hits.

BERNE — Emma Smith went 4-for-4 with a triple and five runs scored and two RBIs to lead Galway to its second-straight victory.

Kaylee Bagdan added a 3-for-5, three RBI, three runs scored effort the the Golden Eagles (2-1 overall, 2-1 WAC). Amber Kolpakas and Jordan Zuk finished with two singles apiece.

Miranda Grzywaczewski went 2-for-4 for BKW with a double and two runs scored, while Kayleigh Reynolds-Flynn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Zoey Lounsburg had a double and a single.

AMSTERDAM — Scotia-Glenville pitcher Kelly Mayette struck out 15 and allowed five hits as the Lady Tartans shut out Amsterdam in the Foothills Council opener for both teams Thursday at Shuttleworth Park.

Megan Charnews connected for a solo home run for the Lady Tartans.

Mackenzie Farina led Amsterdam with two singles, while Shelby LaMont added a double and Madi Carmona and Megan LaMont both singled.

Canajoharie 10, Cooperstown 7

CANAJOHARIE — Mackenzie Bowerman tripled, double, drove in five runs and struck out nine Cooperstown batters for Canajoharie in non-league action Thursday at Canajoharie High School.

Mollie Krug had a triple and three runs scored in a 4-for-4 performance for the Lady Cougars, while Sam Keaney added a double and Sydney Shepard collected two RBIs for Canajoharie.

Natalie Brotherton struck out 10 batters in the circle for Cooperstown and hit a pair of singles. Abigail Miller also had two singles.
