FMCC players earn regional honors

Raiders’ Collar named Coach of the Year

Several Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s and women’s basketball players were named to the Division III Region III and Mountain Valley Conference all-star teams.

FMCC coach Ed Collar was named the MVC and Region III Coach of the Year.

The Raiders’ Amadou Diakite was named a first-team Mountain Valley Conference and Region III all-star. He also was named to the Region III all-tournament team. Diakite averaged 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Jaleel Jean Jacques was named a third-team MVC and Region III all-star, while Juwan Malone was named a third-team Mountain Valley Conference all-stars. Jean Jacques averaged 11.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per games, while Malone averaged 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

For the FMCC women, Niaimani Marshall was named a first-team Mountain Valley Conference and Region III all-star. She also was named to the Region III all-tournament team. Marshall averaged 18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals per games.

The Lady Raiders’ DiAsia DeBoue and McKiea Weekes were named third-team Mountain Valley Conference and Region III all-stars. DeBoue averaged 16.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.9 steals per game this season, while Weekes averaged 16.4 rebounds and 9.7 points.

The FMCC men finished their season with a 20-7 overall record, while the women went 19-7 overall.

Men

Herkimer’s Derrick Felder was named the Region III Player of the Year and the Region III Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Felder also was named a Region III first-team all-star after leading the Generals to the Region III Tournament title.

Rounding out the first-team Region II all-stars were Onondaga’s Isaiah Brinkley, Hudson Valley’s O’nanadi Brooks, Mohawk Valley’s Jordanny Cuevas-Marte and Corning’s Christian Simmons.

Herkimer’s Teshaun Beckles, Hudson Valley’s Caleb Canty, Finger Lakes’ Devin Green, Finger Lakes’ Rodrigue Mathone and Mohawk Valley’s Justin Steed were named second-team Region III all-stars.

Rounding out the Region III all-star team were Cayuga’s Messiah Brown, Columbia-Greene’s Jihadu Brunner-Brown, Schenectady County’s Raheem Felder and Onondaga’s Syquan Ralands who were named to the third team.

Women

North Country Community College’s Jerrad Dumont was named Region III Coach of the Year after leading the Saints to the Division III tournament title.

North Country also had Kayla Carder and Tyl Taylor named first-team Region III all-stars. Carder also was named the Region III Tournament MVP.

Onondaga’s Sydni Eure was named Region III Player of the Year and a first-team all-star.

Rounding out the first team were Hudson Valley’s Taylor Engster and Jefferson’s Chelsey Raven.

The second team included Jefferson’s Alyson Crosby, Tompkins Cortland’s Taylor Day, Hudson Valley’s Caitlin Estes, Onondaga’s Katelyn Karleski and Hudson Valley’s Hannah Kreiger.

Rounding out the all-region team were Corning’s Taylor Herberger, SUNY Broome’s Anna Hotalen, Finger Lakes’ Sarah Lacey and Columbia-Greene’s Daniella Weinschreider who were all named to the third team.
