Swimmers compete in last chance meet
ALBANY — Several area swimmers competed in the last chance meet Saturday at Albany Academy.
Gloversville’s Jacob Sweeney won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.24 seconds.
Sweeney also was second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.94.
Amsterdam’s Nathaniel Anderson won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.06.
Gloversville’s Jordan O’Dell (2:58.56) was second in the 200 individual medley, while Peyton Simek (59.58 seconds) was fifth in the 100 freestyle.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Gloversville’s Kamden Daniels (27.83 seconds) was fourth, Logan Garren (26.83) was fifth and Parker Simek (28.02) was sixth.
Also competing in the 50 freestyle for Gloversville were Bryce Walker (15th, 28.88), Ethan Edwards (16th, 29.23), Jacob Kataneksza (22nd, 31.02), Thomas Mancini (23rd, 31.13) and Gabe Hughes (26th, 31.67).
Daniels won the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:02.29.
Walker also placed fourth in the 100 butterfly for the Sea Dragons with a time of 1:16.84.
Garren (1:02.80) was 11th in the 100 freestyle, Edwards (1:09.21) was 16th, Hughes (1:12.52) was 17th, Kataneksza (1:15.00) was 18th, Parker Simek (1:18.45) was 19th and Mancini (1:22.50) was 20th.
Peyton Simek (1:19.15) was sixth in the 100 breaststroke for Gloversville, while O’Dell (1:25.65) was 13th.
