Johnstown skiers compete at West Mtn.

QUEENSBURY — The Johnstown boys and girls alpine ski team competed at the Niskayuna Invitational on Wednesday at West Mountain.

The race was a one-run giant slalom event.

The girls placed third with 32 points, while the boys finished seventh with 73 points.

In the girls meet, Saratoga Springs won the team title with a total of 27 points, Queensbury was second with 31 points and Johnstown was third.

Schuylerville’s Hannah Klingbiel won the girls race with a time of 30.19 seconds. Saratoga Springs’ Shannon Kelly was second with a time of 30.25 seconds and Shenendehowa’s Melissa Taggert (30.52 seconds) was third.

Emily Fleming led Johnstown, placing fifth with a time of 31.22 seconds. Molly Lake (31.58 seconds) was 10th for the Lady Bills, Robin Kruggel (33.54) was 17th and Taryn Ringer (35.23) was 33rd. Petra Conyne (35.78) finished 40th for Johnstown, Emily Frank (35.78) was 42nd and Molly Memrick did not finish her run.

In the boys meet, Shenendehowa won the team title with 21 points. Niskayuna was second with 25 points and Saratoga Springs was third with 31 points.

Queensbury’s Hunter Montgomery won the boys race with a time of 29.83 seconds. Shenendehowa’s Chase Paton was second with a time of 29.91 seconds and Lake George’s Marc Casabonne (29.96 seconds) was third.

Ben Krempa was Johnstown’s top finisher, placing 23rd with a time of 32.52 seconds. Colin Cotter (32.62 seconds) was 24th for the Sir Bills, Tyler Kortz (32.67) was 26th and Carter Cheney (33.43) was 31st. Jacob Martelle (42.41) finished 59th for Johnstown.
