JOHNSTOWN — Macenzie Ward finished with 35 assists, 13 digs, nine service points, five aces, two kills and one block to lead Johnstown to a 3-2 victory over Fonda-Fultonville in a non-league volleyball match at Johnstown High School on Tuesday.

The Lady Bills won the first set, 25-17, before losing the next two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-23. Johnstown rebounded to win the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-21 to earn the victory.

“It’s a good thing,” Johnstown coach Heather McGuire said. “Fonda-Fultonville play some amazing D. They have a big front line. They capitalized when we let up a little bit.”

Zoe Petrie had 20 digs, five aces and one kill for the Lady Bills, while Sydney Darling had eight points, six kills, five digs and three aces. Janay Douglas posted 24 digs, nine kills, six points and two blocks for Johnstown, Amber Tesi recorded eight kills, seven digs and two blocks, Jordyn Stoutner finished with 13 points, five kills and two blocks, and Sadie Blowers added eight points, five kills, two aces and one block.

“We just needed to figure out how to play error-free volleyball,” McGuire said.

Marilyn Whitcavitch had eight kills, eight digs, three solo blocks, two aces and two block assists for the Lady Braves.

Krystal McSpirit had six solo blocks and three block assists.

“We were hoping to play up to their level,” Fonda-Fultonville coach Peyton Petersen said. “We did for a while, but not for the whole match.”

Johnstown (7-3 overall) is scheduled to host Scotia-Glenville today at 6 p.m.

Fonda-Fultonville (6-4 overall) is scheduled to travel to Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match.

Foothills Council

Broadalbin-Perth 3, Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM — Lily Mitchell finished with 18 assists, 16 service points, three digs and two aces to power Broadalbin-Perth to a Foothills Council victory over Amsterdam on Tuesday.

The Lady Patriots won by scores of 26-24, 25-8 and 25-17.

Sophia Rogers had five kills, four digs and two aces for B-P (8-1 overall, 8-1 Foothills), while Madison Fariello registered six points, two blocks, one ace and one kill.

Nicole DeRose finished with four aces and three digs for Amsterdam (4-9 overall, 2-8 Foothills), while Adriana Santiago had five digs, three aces, two assists and one kill. Leidy Ortiz-Rivera recorded five digs and five blocks for the Lady Rams.

Johnstown 3, Scotia-Glenville 0

SCOTIA — Macenzie Ward finished with 21 assists, eight points, seven aces, five digs and three kills to lead Johnstown to a Foothills Council victory over Scotia-Glenville on Friday.

The Lady Bills won by scores of 25-7, 25-19 and 25-11.

Janay Douglas had nine kills and five digs for Johnstown, while Jordyn Stoutner posted 12 points and two aces.

Mayfield 3, Bishop Gibbons 0

MAYFIELD — Mikayla Myers finished with 15 points, 13 digs, nine kills and four aces to lead Mayfield to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers won by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-22.

Amy Laubenstein recorded nine points and eight digs for Mayfield (12-1 overall, 9-1 WAC), while Taylor Proctor had six points and three assists. Emily Mormando posted 19 assists, five kills and one block for the Lady Panthers, Jordan Rivenburg had five points, and Katie LaGrange posted five kills. Samantha Kent added 10 digs, 10 kills and one block for Mayfield.

Christina Brown had nine kills and 11 service points for Bishop Gibbons, Anna Dobkowski had 13 assists, and Sarah Malinowski had nine kills and four blocks.

Galway 3, Middleburgh 0

GALWAY — Katy Kurtzner finished with 18 digs and 12 points to lead Galway to a WAC victory over Middleburgh on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-15.

Lindsay Zawisa, Emma Smith, Anna Gardner, Julia Reedy and Samantha Grant all had five kills for Galway (10-0 overall, 9-0 WAC).

Saige Burton posted 17 digs and 11 kills for Middleburgh, while Hallie Gasner had five kills and three blocks.

Canajoharie-Fort Plain 3, Duanesburg 2

DUANESBURG — Kayla Mastin finished with 13 kills, 13 digs, 10 service points and six aces to lead Canajoharie-Fort Plain to a five-set victory over Duanesburg on Tuesday.

C-FP won by scores of 8-23, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18 and 25-23.

Sydney Shepard had 20 kills, 13 points, eight digs and two aces for Canajoharie-Fort Plain (7-3 overall, 6-3 WAC), while Mykayla Hayner had 26 points, eight aces and two digs.

Annabelle Rieseler finished with 25 service points and 13 kills for Duanesburg, while Sophia Loukides posted nine points and six kills. Victoria Passonno had 21 points, 11 kills and one block for the Eagles, and Siena Hallberg added three blocks.

Mekeel Christian 3, OESJ 0

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Casey Simmons finished with six kills to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a WAC victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville on Tuesday.

Mekeel Christian won by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22.

Keely Lagon had six aces and five kills for Mekeel Christian, Kylie Islip posted 10 points, four kills and three aces, and Sophia Armao recorded 12 assists, four kills, three aces and three points.

Kenidee Oare finished with three kills for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (1-7 overall, 1-7 WAC), while Shaina Golladay had five digs. Fontana LaCoppola posted four aces and two assists for the Lady Wolves and Meadow Arduini had three aces.
