Girls Soccer Roundup: Engle lifts Lady Wolves past Northville in overtime, 2-1
ST. JOHNSVILLE — Ashley Engle scored in the first overtime to lift Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 2-1 victory over Northville in a Western Athletic Conference girls soccer contest Wednesday.
Bella Masi also scored for the Lady Wolves on a first-half penalty kick.
Kaytelenn VanHuesen scored the lone goal for Northville (10-5 overall, 6-4 WAC).
Ashlee Shelmadine made 10 saves for OESJ (8-3-3 overall, 7-2 WAC).
Emily Shepard finished with 11 stops for the Lady Falcons.
Mayfield 4, Fort Plain 0
FORT PLAIN — Four different players scored for Mayfield in a WAC victory over Fort Plain.
Emily Senese, Bri Hubiak, Blair Kline and Anna Gates scored for the Lady Panthers, while Lindsey Hampton and Taryn LaFontaine each had an assist.
Kat Knecht didn’t need to make a save to post the shutout for Mayfield (5-6-1 overall, 5-4 WAC), which outshot the Lady Hilltoppers, 9-0.
Quinn Jones made five stops for Fort Plain (5-9 overall, 2-7 WAC).
Canajoharie 3, Middleburgh 2, OT
MIDDLEBURGH — Kylie Rickard scored the game-winning goal with 2.3 seconds left in the second overtime to lift Canajoharie to a WAC victory over Middleburgh.
Alexz Lathers finished with a goal and an assist for the Cougars, while Abby Smith also scored.
Rylie Smith scored twice for Middleburgh.
Hunter Pitcher finished with eight saves for the Lady Cougars (13-0-1 overall, 10-0 WAC), while Ruby Acker made eight saves for the Knights.
Galway 3, Mekeel Christian 2, OT
SCOTIA — Rachel Wnuk scored all three goals to lead Galway to an overtime victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.
Lily Gullett and Sarah Ernst each had an assist for Golden Eagles.
Jo Galarneau scored both goals for Mekeel Christian.
Kimberly Martin made six saves for Galway (2-10 overall, 2-7 WAC), while Angel Barton had seven stops for Mekeel Christian.
Schoharie 6, Duanesburg 1
SCHOHARIE — Katie Krohn netted a hat trick and had an assist to power Schoharie to a WAC victory over Duanesburg.
Haley Drinon scored twice for the Indians, while Maddie Phelan scored once. Megan Krohn and Jacquelyn Sullivan each had an assist for Schoharie.
Olivia Harris scored the lone goal for Duanesburg.
Maddie Bland and Carissa Palmatier combined to make five saves for Schoharie.
