Royal Mountain crowns 2018 track champions

CAROGA LAKE — The 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season came to an end Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

As part of the final-night festivities, awards were given to the top finishers in the point standings for each class.

A total of seven area riders collected trophies after winning the titles in their respective classes.

Fonda’s Carter Petersen, Johnstown’s Casey Battisti, Mayfield’s Jordan Miller and Fonda’s Tyler Blowers all won titles in two different classes. Johnstown’s Maxx Miller, Gloversville’s Burton Wilson and Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto also won titles in their respective class.

Petersen won six times this season on his way to the 122-125 two-stroke title and six times in the 122-250 novice class to earn that title as well. Petersen also was second in the schoolboy standings.

Blowers won eight times en route to the 122-open amateur class title and seven times on his way to the schoolboy title.

Battisti won four times in the 122-250 expert class and four times in the 122-open expert class to earn both point titles.

Jordan Miller posted seven wins on her way to the quad schoolboy title and three times on her way to the pit bike title.

Maxx Miller won the 50cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old title, collecting six wins along the way. He also was third in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old points.

Gloversville’s Burton Wilson notched seven wins on his way to the plus-30 expert class crown, while Broadalbin’s Anthony Musto posted four wins on his way to the quad novice title.

In addition to Jordan Miller, Petersen, Blowers and Battisti, two other riders claimed titles in two different classes.

Westerlo’s Blake Shaver won titles in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old and mini 80cc 9- to-11-year-old classes, while Cobleskill’s Joe Edwards won titles in the mini 80cc 12- to 15-year-old and open mini 10- to 16-year-old classes.

Other class champions included Scotia’s Carter Gibbons (122-250 amateur), South Glens Falls’ Matt Campbell (122-open novice), East Berne’s Finn Smith (50cc pee wee junior 4-6), Scotia’s Brennan Rodecker (mini 60cc 7-11), Saratoga Springs’ Blake Conroy (mini quad 50cc production), East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (mini quad 51-90cc production), Fort Edward’s Dustin Peterson (plus-30 amateur), Yorkville’s Jamie Nimey (plus-40 amateur), Troy’s Peter Miller (quad amateur) and Baldwinsville’s Ryan Pyle (quad expert).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes in the point standings in their respective classes.

Fort Plain’s Spencer Mang was fourth in the 122-250 expert points. Mang also was fifth in the 122-open expert points.

In the plus-30 amateur class, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was second, Johnstown’s Jason Cook was third, Gloversville’s Sean Dufel was fourth and Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was fifth.

Gloversville’s Matthew Telfer was fifth in the 122-250 novice points, Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigliato was second in the 122-250 amateur points, Nelliston’s Tyler Dygert was fifth in the 122-open novice class points and Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert was fifth in the 122-125 two-stroke point standings.

In the plus-30 expert class, Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second and Fonda’s Clayton Blowers.

Broadalbin’s Josh Deuel was second in the quad amateur class, while Broadalbin’s Colby Watras was third in quad expert class.

In the quad novice class, Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey was second and Gloversville’s Anthony Covey was fifth.

Amsterdam’s Courtney Trombley was second in the quad schoolboy point standings and Gloversville’s Tyler Covey was fourth

Pattersonville’s Zack Konwisarz was fourth in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old points and fifth in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old points.

Gloversville’s Keith Orr was second in the plus-40 amateur class and Gloversville’s Dennis Fitzpatrick was third.

In the mini 80cc 12- to 15-year-old class, Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was second, Johnstown’s Bennett Melita was third and Gloversville’s Devin Buyce was fourth.

Zelich was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class, Fonda’s Charles Rose was third, Melita was fourth and Buyce was fifth.

Fonda’s Tyler Miller was second in the mini quad 50cc production class, Mayfield’s Chloe VanNostrand was third in the mini quad 51-90cc production class, while Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was fifth.

In the pit bike class points, Gloversville’s Shane Graham and Johnstown’s Zach Szurek tied for second, and Mayfield’s Brandon Tyler was fourth.

Dolgeville’s Jim George was fourth in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old point standings.

In the 50cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class, Gloversville’s Evan Darling was fourth and Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was fifth.
