Nethaway, Weaver playing for Sage

PLATTSBURGH — The Sage Colleges’ women’s volleyball team wrapped up play on Saturday at the two-day Best Western Cardinal Tournament at Plattsburgh State.

Sage dropped the opener, 3-1 to the host Cardinals of Plattsburgh State (25-19, 25-23, 26-28, 24-26) and then defeated the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College by 3-1 decision (25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 25-14).

The Gators are now 1-3 on the year.

Against Mt. St. Mary, Sage junior middle hitter Miranda Nethaway, a Fonda Fultonville graduate, had nine kills with three aces and four block assists.  

Freshman defensive specialist Kayla Weaver, a Broadalbin-Perth graduate, added four aces with four digs for the Gators.

The Gators will return to action on Wednesday for the team’s home opener as they host SUNY-Delhi at 7 p.m. at Kahl Gym.
