Girls Soccer Roundup: Gloversville to play for tourney title

GLOVERSVILLE — Harmony Philo had a goal and two assists to lead Gloversville to a 4-0 victory over Mayfield in the first round of the Scott Retersdorf Memorial Tournament on Friday at Gloversville High School.

Sydney Loux, Katie Callen and Taylor Mee also scored for the Lady Dragons, who improved to 2-0 on the season. Kendra Lavery had an assist for Gloversville, which scored twice in each half.

In other first-round contest, Ballston Spa posted a 4-1 victory over Northville.

Maddy Barnum. Sarah Rule, Sarah Sierzenga and Gabriella Payant scored for Ballston Spa, while Rule, Sierzenga, Jordyn Ostrander and Lily Urban all had one assist.

Brytney Moore scored the lone goal for Northville (0-1 overall), which was outshot by a 21-3 margin.

Northville will face Mayfield in the consolation game today at 5 p.m., while Gloversville and Ballston Spa will meet in the title game at 7 p.m.


Germantown 2, Galway 1

GERMANTOWN — Riley Gibbons and Julia Howard scored to lift Germantown to a non-league win over Galway.

Sarah Ernst scored the lone goal for Galway.

Jordan Wyatt made 10 saves for Germantown, while Ruth Reichard made nine saves for Galway (0-1 overall).
