FMCC men’s soccer plays Erie to draw

JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s soccer team battled Erie Community College to a 1-1 double-overtime draw Wednesday.

Kevin Maldonado scored the lone goal for FMCC in the first half on an assist from Yasser Mourad.

Jason Martin scored the tying goal for Erie in the second half on an assist from Rexford Anim.

“Today was a typical match between two great teams; each team had the run of play.  We are not pleased with the draw, but drawing against a top-10 team that is nationally ranked isn’t that bad,” FMCC coach Cory Leggiero said. “I hope this result sends a message that we are here to play, the days of easy wins are over.”

FMCC (3-2-1 overall) is scheduled to travel to Niagara County Community College on Saturday and Cayuga Community College on Sunday.
