Boys Soccer Roundup: Mayfield tops Greenwich, 2-1

BROADALBIN — Daniel Leach and Josh Wasson scored first-half goals to lift Mayfield to a 2-1 victory over Greenwich in the opening round of the Mayfield Central School Booster Tournament at Broadalbin-Perth’s Patriot Field on Saturday.

Colbey Hime had an assist for the Panthers, who improved to 3-0 overall.

Charlie Gartner scored the lone goal for Greenwich.

Sam Whiting made seven saves for Greenwich, which was outshot by a 9-1 margin.

In the other first-round contest, Lake George posted a 3-1 victory over Greenville.

Ethan Knauf scored twice for the Warriors (4-0 overall), while Owen Sutton had a goal and an assist.

Bergen Criswell scored the lone goal for Greenville.

Mayfield will face Lake George in next Saturday’s championship game, while Greenwich will face Greenville in the consolation game.

Non-league

Coxsackie-Athens 3, Fonda-Fultonville 2

COXSACKIE — Jamison Baker scored twice to lead Coxsackie-Athens to a non-league victory over Fonda-Fultonville on Saturday.

Ethan Foster also scored for the Indians, while Michael Petramale added an assist.

Tyler Sweet scored both goals for Fonda-Fultonville (1-1 overall).

Aiden Boehm made two saves for Coxsackie-Athens, while Mitch Araya made nine stops for the Braves.

On Friday, Josh Coyne scored the game’s only goal on a penalty kick to lift Fonda-Fultonville to a non-league victory over Cairo-Durham.
