B-P grad Opalka competing for Sage

POUGHKEEPSIE — The Sage Colleges’ women’s and men’s cross country teams opened the 2018 season on Friday, competing at the Vassar College Invitational. Vassar’s men’s and women’s teams won the team crowns, while also producing the top individual finishers as well.

The Vassar women posted a team score of 15 to win the women’s crown, while Sage women finished fourth in a team field of five squads with a score of 104. 
Vassar’s Christina Prater-Lee won the women’s 3 K race with her time of 11:12.2. On the men’s side, Vassar’s Jack Caslino took home the medalist finish in the 4 k race with a time of 12:46.8.

For the Sage women’s team, senior co-captain Victoria Opalka, a Broadalbin-Perth graduate, was the top Gator runner in the field as she took 16th in a time of 12:23.2.

Sage will be back in action Sept. 8 at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational at Vassar.
