H.S. Softball Roundup: Schuylerville blanks Johnstown, 12-0

JOHNSTOWN — Katelyn Weed finished 3-for-3 to lead Schuylerville to a 12-0 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council softball game Monday at Johnstown High School.

Molly Elder had a single, triple and two RBIs for the Black Horses (16-2 overall, 11-2 Foothills), while Emily Vallee was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Caitlin Kelleher had two singles and two RBIs for Schuylerville and Grace Pelletier-Hoblock was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Johnstown slipped to 2-12 overall and 1-11 in Foothills play with the loss.

South Glens Falls 10, Hudson Falls 2

HUDSON FALLS — Leah VanDerwaker went 3-for-5 with a double to lift South Glens Falls to a Foothills Council victory over Hudson Falls.

Maddie Capozucca struck out nine and allowed six hit to earn the complete-game victory for the Bulldogs (18-0 overall, 13-0 Foothills).

Hudson Falls slipped to 3-12 overall and 2-11 in Foothills Council play.

Bishop Gibbons 3, Mayfield 2

SCHENECTADY — Hope Hiscock drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to victory over Mayfield in the Western Athletic Conference championship game.

Taylor Malinowski had a double and scored a run for the Golden Knights, while Emery Sawitzki and Hiscock each had singles.

Jailene Santiago had 11 strikeouts and allowed six hits to earn the win for Bishop Gibbons, which earned the WAC title for the first time in school history.

Sydney Benton had a solo home run for Mayfield (11-7 overall, while Taryn LaFontaine had a double and a single.

Juliana Buyce had a single and an RBI for the Lady Panthers, while Emily Senese had a single and scored a run.

Jillian Botch struck out nine and allowed just three hits for Mayfield.

NORTHVILLE — Meadow Arduini struck out eight and allowed four hits to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah to a victory over Northville in a WAC crossover game.

Emily Shepard had a home run for the Falcons.

OESJ improved to 3-11 overall with the win, while Northville slipped to 2-10 overall.

FORT PLAIN — Bella Page went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to help Fort Plain to a win over Fonda-Fultonville in a WAC crossover game.

Emily Marsh was 3-for-3 with a run scored for the Lady Hilltoppers (12-3 overall), while Michaela Stockwell was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Faith Rende was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Fort Plain.

Stockwell earned the win, allowing two hits, striking out 13 and walking one in six innings.

Bri Egelston was 2-for-3 for Fonda-Fultonville (10-7 overall), while Bre Sprague had a single.

Emma Smith had a two-run home run for Galway (7-10 overall), while Hanna Darling had a single, double and four RBIs. Leah Oughton added two singles and two RBIs for the Golden Eagles.
