Castelluccio places seventh at states

STATEN ISLAND — Fonda-Fultonville’s Brittany Castelluccio picked up an seventh-place finish in the long jump at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association indoor track and field championships Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.

Castelluccio, a senior, turned in a jump of 17-04 to finish seventh in the NYSPHSAA event and was eighth in the Federation competition.

Castelluccio also competed in the triple jump and placed tenth overall in the event with a leap of 36-01.0.

The Amsterdam girls 4×400-meter relay team of Brenda Santana, Olivia Lazarou, Gabby Stanavich and Lauren Santiago finished sixth overall in the finals with a time of 4:03.51.

Stanavich missed advancing to the finals in the 55-meter hurdles by .06 seconds and finished ninth overall with a time of 8.47.

Santiago turned in a time of 41.77 in the preliminaries for the 300-meter dash but did not advance to the finals but was 19th overall in the event.
