Girls Basketball Roundup: Second-half surge lifts Middleburgh past Mayfield, 41-36

MAYFIELD — The Mayfield Lady Panthers jumped out to a 22-18 first-half lead but could not hold off a second-half rally by Middleburgh as the Lady Knights picked up a 41-36 Western Athletic Conference victory Friday night at Mayfield High School.

Sydney Sheldon led the host Lady Panthers with 22 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Camryn Meca had five points and Katie LaGrange chipped in with four.

Breanna Palmatier paced Middleburgh with three 3-pointers and a 9-for-12 effort from the free-throw line for 18 points, while Kelsey Terrell finished with 14 points.

Mayfield is slated to travel to Galway on Wednesday for a non-league contest at 7 p.m.

NORTHVILLE –Hannah Coupas converted on 10 of 16 free throw attempts en route to her game-high 22 points to lead Northville to the WAC victory Friday night at Northville High School.

Jessica Miller finished with 10 points for the Lady Falcons, while Kerrigan Groff added nine points.

Ava Megyeri led Bishop Gibbons with 15 points, while Sarah Malinowski finished with 12 points and Chloe Bessinger had eight.

The teams combined for 62 free-throw attempts, 45 for Northville, 17 for Bishop Gibbons, in the game.

Makenzie Bowerman led Canajoharie with 11 points, while Madison Koeble had 10 and Regan Sala chipped in with seven points.

Samantha Grant led Galway with her game-high 15 point effort, while Grace Montague finished with 10 points and Carlee Horstmann had seven points.
