Northville wins Woodward Tourney

NORTHVILLE — Led by Andy Klingbeil’s team-high 18 points, the Northville Falcons outbattled Galway to capture the Woodward Tournament championship Friday night at Northville High School.

The Falcons led by a point at halftime but steadily pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 26-19 to claim the 54-46 victory.

T.J. Wadsworth finished with 13 points for the victorious Falcons, while Lucas Jetty finished with 12 points.

Mike Sowle paced Galway with 15 points, while Thor White chipped in with 13.

Klingbeil was named tournament MVP. He was joined on the all-tournament team by Jetty, Galway’s Erik Matthews and Jake Restivo along with Wells’ Justin Foster and Dolgeville’s Brendan Fahd.

Foster netted 20 points to lead Wells to victory in the tournament consolation game, while Shane Kennedy had 13 points and Coby Stuart and Ryan Bolebruch scored 12 points apiece and Tre Zimmerman finished with 11.

Fahd hit six 3-pointers en route to his team-high 18 points, while Zach Smith finished with nine.

SCOTIA — Host Mekeel Christian Academy put together a 33-point second quarter en route to defeating Broadalbin-Perth 87-50 to win the championship game of the Mekeel Christmas Tournament.

Carter Stewart led the Lions with 28 points, including five 3-pointers, while Deonte Holder also had five 3-pointers in his 27-point effort.

Troy Monroe led Broadalbin-Perth with 17 points, while Brodryk Benton finished with 11 points.

GLOVERSVILLE — Voorheesville shook off its loss to Gloversville Thursday night to defeat Columbia Prep 72-39 on the second night of the Coach K Festival at Gloversville High School.

Joey Saia led the Blackbirds with 23 points, including five 3-pointers, while Frank Tedesco had four 3-pointers in his 16-point effort and P.J. Parker chipped in with 14 points.

Christomper MeJean led the Lions with 10 points, while Andrew McCleary and Jacule Biddles finished with seven points apiece.
