Girard III nets 48 in Glens Falls’ 87-70 victory over Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Sir Bills put up 43 second-half points against Glens Falls but it was not enough to overcome the Indians 55-point first half performance en route to registering an 87-70 Foothills Council victory Thursday night at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Glens Falls standout Joe Girard III hit for 33 first-half points and finished the night with 48 points including nine 3-pointers. Trent Girard hit for two 3-pointers in his 14-point effort.

Matthew Boyle led Johnstown with his 23-point performance, while Trevor Porter had 11 points.

Joe Girard III, a junior, now has 2,343 career points and is closing in on Gloversville’s Chris Ciaccio (2,373 points) for fourth-place on the Section II all-time scorers list.

Glens Falls will host Amsterdam in a battle of unbeatens tonight at Glens Falls High School.
