Fo-Jo wrestlers top Schoharie, 54-36

SCHOHARIE — In its first match as a combined squad, the Fonda-Johnstown wrestling team opened its season with a 54-36 victory at Schoharie in a Western Athletic Conference match Tuesday.

“This was a nice won for the newly-merged Fonda-Johnstown team,” Fonda-Johnstown coach Jim Rodecker said. “The kids had to make some adjustments, but they have been working real hard.”

Na’Jon Subik (285) won by pin for Fonda-Johnstown (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC), while Loretta Newcomer (99 pounds), Justin Kearns (106), Zenmatsu Myles (113), Jonathan Cranker (120), Cameron Sweet (152), Justin Gray (160), Michael Rumberger (170) and Luke Ahrens (220) all won by forfeit.

Dylan Callahan (138), Shawn Kendle (145), Mohammed Elkadim (182) and Jeremy Griffis (195) won by pin for Schoharie, while Austin Lints (126) and Andrew Hahn (132) picked up forfeit wins.
