FMCC Roundup: FMCC men claim fifth straight win

JOHNSTOWN — Jaleel Jean Jacques finished with 12 points to lead the Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s basketball team to an 80-75 victory over North Country Community College in a Mountain Valley Conference game Wednesday.

It was the fifth straight win for the Raiders, who improved to 5-2 overall.

Dante Morgan and Darren Demmitt each had 11 points for the Raiders. Demmitt also had a team-high 10 rebounds.

Jonathan Thornton scored a game-high 25 points to lead North Country (9-4 overall), while Malik Wilkinson had 18 points and 13 rebounds. Shamar Logins added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints.

FMCC is slated to travel to Canandaigua on Sunday for a 3 p.m. contest. It will be the Raiders’ final game of the first semester.

FMCC women lose to North Country

JOHNSTOWN — Ty Taylor finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Country Community College to a 72-62 victory over Fulton-Montgomery Community College in a Mountain Valley Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday.

It was the fifth straight win for the Saints, who improved to 9-3 overall.

The Lady Raiders led 25-9 in the first quarter and 35-31 at the half before the Saints outscored them 43-27 in the second half to earn the win.

Emily Sheets scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds for North Country, while Kiara Sweeney had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Diasia DeBoue scored a game-high 34 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for Fulton-Montgomery (3-4 overall), while Julie Hampton finished with 13 points.

FMCC is slated to travel to Canandaigua on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest. It will be the Lady Raiders’ final game of the first semester.
