FMCC men, women record victories

BINGHAMTON — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams were both victorious on the road this weekend against SUNY Broome.

The Lady Raiders won 71-45 and the men’s team came out on top, 90-82.

In the women’s game, FMCC trailed 34-29 at the half before outscoring the Hornets 42-11 in the second half.

Diasia DeBoue finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals for FMCC, which won its second straight game.

Julie Hampton had 19 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Lady Raiders.

Clyneia Willard and Julianna Mushalla each scored 14 points to lead Broome (1-9 overall).

In the men’s game, the Broome jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. The Raiders answered with a run of their own and led 46-45 at halftime.

In the second half, the Raiders jumped out to an 18-point lead and never trailed to seal their fourth straight victory.

Amadou Diakite led FMCC with 22 points and Dante Morgan finished with 21. Brandon Cooper and Courtney Darnley were also in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Lucas Iacobuzzi scored 14 points to lead Broome (3-6 overall), while Reginald Vaughan had 17 points. Brady Harrington scored 13 points for the Hornets and Tron Smith Jr. added 10.

Both teams look to keep their winning streaks alive Wednesday at home against North Country Community College. The women are set to tip off at 5 p.m. and the men will play at 7 p.m.
