Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic: Fort Plain, Northville post wins

JOHNSTOWN — Jaxson Yacowenia finished with 25 points to lead Fort Plain to a 57-54 victory over Wells in the first game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic at Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Friday.

After trailing 21-18 at the half, the Hilltoppers outscored the Indians 39-33 after the break to earn the victory.

Cameron Dillenbeck scored 14 points for Fort Plain (1-1 overall), while Adan Vasquez added nine points.

Shane Kennedy scored 15 points to lead Wells (0-1 overall), while Justin Foster finished with 11 points.

Tre Zimmerman and Ryan Bolebruch each finished the game with 10 points for the Indians.

Fort Plain is slated to travel to Fonda-Fultonville on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Wells is off until next Friday when it is scheduled to travel to Schroon Lake for a 6:30 p.m. game.

Northville 63, Sharon Springs 49

JOHNSTOWN — Lucas Jetty finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Northville to a victory over Sharon Springs in Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

The Falcons outscored the Spartans 34-13 over the second and third quarters to take control of the game.

Michael Kalkbrenner scored 17 points for Northville (1-0 overall), while Nate Reidell added 10.

Nick Tomaszewski and Nate McFadden each scored 12 points for Sharon Springs (1-2 overall).

The Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic continues today with six games at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Duanesburg faces Salem in today’s opener at noon, while Middleburgh will face Edmeston at 1:30 p.m. Schoharie will meet Cobleskill-Richmondville at 3 p.m., followed by Dolgeville facing Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville at 4:45 p.m. Mayfield will meet Canajoharie at 6:15 p.m., and in the final game of the day, Johnstown and Fonda-Fultonville will square off at 7:45 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
