C-FP swimmers lose season-opening meet

CANAJOHARIE — Guilderland-Voorheesville won eight of 11 events on its way to a 96-72 victory over Canajoharie-Fort Plain in a non-league boys swim meet Wednesday.

Benjamin Brkanovic (200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle), Joseph Gravino (100 freestyle, 50 freestyle) and Michael Ardito (100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly) all won two events for Guilderland-Voorheesville, while Alexander Cresanti added a win in the 200 individual medley. Guilderland-Voorheesville also won the 200 medley relay.

Dale Plant (100 backstroke) posted the lone individual event win for Canajoharie-Fort Plain, which got its other wins in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. In the 200 freestyle, the team of Plant, Alex Sydow, Danion Jonker and Joseph Trembley posted a winning time of 1:39.50. Sydow, Jonker, A.J. Sullivan and Trembley posted a time of 3:46.53 to win the 400 freestyle relay.

The 1-meter diving event was not contested.
