Boys Basketball Roundup: Wells picks up first win of season

WELLS — Wells had four players finish in double figures as it picked up its first victory over the season Friday — a 61-43 Mountain and Valley Conference win over Bolton.

Justin Foster scored 17 points to lead Wells (1-3 overall, 1-2 MVAC), while Shane Kennedy finished with 14 points. Coby Stuart and Tre Zimmerman each had 12 points for the Indians, who led 17-1 after the first quarter.

Jacob Beebe scored 13 points to lead Bolton, while Craig Wholey added 12 points.

MIDDLEBURGH — Peyton Olsen finished with 27 points to lead Middleburgh to a Western Athletic Conference victory over Canajoharie on Friday.

C.J. Singer scored 21 points for the Knights (3-1 WAC), while Will Bankston added 14 points.

Luke VanSlyke scored a game-high 20 points to lead Canajoharie (0-7 overall, 0-3 WAC).

DOLGEVILLE — Herkimer got a 23-point performance from Mardoni Laguerre in its Center State Conference opener Friday night at Dolgeville High School.

Laguerre was joined in double-digits by Jordyn Laneaux who finished the night with 22 points for the Magicians.

Dolgeville was led by Zach Smith’s 15 point, three rebound, two assist and four steal effort. Aaron Miller chipped in with eight points, four assists and two steals for the Blue Devils.
