Canajoharie girls win season opener

CANAJOHARIE — Makenzie Bowerman scored eight points to lead Canajoharie to a 47-33 victory over Sharon Springs in a non-league girls basketball game Monday.

The Lady Cougars outscored the Spartans, 31-20, in the second half to earn the victory.

Taya Yacobucci, Madison Koelbl and Alexz Lathers all finished with seven points for Canajoharie (1-0 overall).

Sydney Seegers scored a game-high 12 points to lead Sharon Springs.

Abby Reynolds finished with nine points for the Spartans and Kadence Kennedy added eight points.
