H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Mayfield’s Rovito records 300th career victory

MAYFIELD — Mayfield volleyball coach Eileen Rovito picked up her 300th career victory Wednesday when the Lady Panthers posted a 3-0 victory over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match.

Mayfield won by scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-18.

Mikayla Myers finished with six kills, three aces, three service points and a block for the Lady Panthers, while Taylor Proctor posted six kills, five digs and two assists.

Emily Mormando posted 17 points, 16 assists and three aces for Mayfield (7-4 overall, 6-3 WAC), Alis Hart had six points and three aces, and Katie LaGrange posted eight points.

Katelyn Harrington recorded five digs for the Lady Panthers, Samantha Kent had four kills and Alex Evans posted three service points. Alexis Oliver and Isabelle Henderson each had two kills for Mayfield, which posted its third straight victory.

Bella Page posted 15 digs for Fort Plain (0-10 overall, 0-10 WAC), while Cara Porter posted eight digs and two blocks. Kaylee Atkins had four kills and four aces for the Lady Hilltoppers and Lauren Weinberger added four points.

Mayfield is scheduled to host Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Friday at 6 p.m., while Fort Plain is set to host Duanesburg on Friday at 6 p.m.

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Canajoharie 1

CANAJOHARIE — Hannah Moore finished with 20 assists and 17 service points to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a WAC victory over Canajoharie.

The Lady Braves won by scores of 30-28, 15-25, 25-10 and 25-17.

Jillian Wilder had 10 digs and seven aces for FFCS (5-6 overall, 4-6 WAC), while Peyton Zilles added seven kills.

Kayla Mastin had 11 service points, eight aces, six kills and four blocks for Canajoharie (1-9 overall, 1-8 WAC), while Julie Viscusi posted 10 digs. Sydney Shepard added four assists for the Lady Cougars.

Duanesburg 3, Bishop Gibbons 2

DUANESBURG — Olivia Dykstra finished with 10 kills, eight aces and five service points to lead Duanesburg to a WAC victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

The Eagles won by scores of 26-24, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-19.

Annabelle Rieseler posted 14 points, eight aces and five kills for Duanesburg, while Sophia Loukidas added 13 points and four aces.

Mekeel Christian 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

Mackenzie Islip finished with 21 service points, 17 assists and seven aces to lead Mekeel Christian to a WAC victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

The Lions won by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-14.

Clare Nelson posted nine points, eight kills, five digs and three aces for Mekeel Christian (10-1 overall, 10-0 WAC), while Sydney Ekstein had 11 kills, 10 digs, six points and two aces. Paula Armstrong recorded nine digs and five points for the Lions.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo slipped to 5-6 overall and 4-6 in WAC play with the loss.

Middleburgh 3, Schoharie 0

SCHOHARIE — Saige Burton finished with 11 kills to lead Middleburgh to a sweep of Schoharie.

The Knights won by scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-13.

Cheyenne Haemmerle posted 18 assists for Middleburgh, while Camryn Leggett added seven kills and five aces.

Jacquie Gerstenberger posted 12 service points and five aces for Schoharie, while Victoria Bloodgood had three kills.

Foothills Council

Johnstown 3, Scotia-Glenville 0

JOHNSTOWN — Macenzie Ward posted 20 assists, seven service points, four aces and two kills to lead Johnstown to a sweep of Scotia-Glenville in a Foothills Council South Division match.

The Lady Bills won by scores of 25-10, 25-14 and 25-16.

Alexys Hutchins posted three points, three kills, two digs and a block for Johnstown (7-4 overall, 6-4 Foothills), while Amber Tesi had eight points, five kills, four aces, four digs and a block.

Janay Douglas posted seven digs, six kills, four points, two aces and a block for the Lady Bills, and Sadie Blowers added 10 points and five digs.

Ashley Cesare had three kills and two assists for Scotia-Glenville, while Rhaymi Porter posted two kills, two blocks and two digs.

Maya Bellamy added two aces and a block for the Lady Tartans.

Gloversville 3, Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM — Lucy McCredie posted 14 assists, six digs, five kills and four aces to power Gloversville to a Foothills Council South Division victory over Amsterdam.

The Huskies won by scores of 27-25, 25-15 and 25-20.

Abbey Johnson had six kills and two aces for Gloversville (6-6 overall, 6-5 Foothills), while Jasmine Gonzalez added four kills and three blocks.

Amsterdam slipped to 3-9 overall and 3-8 in Foothills Council play with the loss.

South Glens Falls 3, Schuylerville 0

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Karli Chamberlain finished with seven digs and five service points to lead South Glens Falls to a Foothills Council North Division victory over Schuylerville.

The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-11.

Mariah Baxter posted eight service points for South Glens Falls (11-0 overall, 10-0 Foothills), while Kasen Lemay had seven kills and three digs. Taylor Wells added 18 assists and four kills for the Bulldogs.

Emma Tyler and Eva Drohobycky each had four digs for Schuylerville.
