H.S. Football Roundup: Schalmont rolls past Broadalbin-Perth

ROTTERDAM — Shane O’Dell passed for 319 yards and six touchdowns to lead Schalmont to a 48-7 victory over Broadalbin-Perth in a quarterfinal game Class B football tournament Friday.

O’Dell threw TD pass of 7 and 29 yards to Darnell Green and 44-yard, 63-yard and 26-yard TD passes to L.J. Randle. He also had a 70-yard touchdown pass to Jesse O’Dell.

Jake Sanford added a 3-yard touchdown run for the Sabres, who advance to next Friday’s semifinals.

Schalmont (5-3 overall) will host Schuylerville, which posted a 49-21 victory over Cobleskill-Richmondville in its quarterfinal contest.

Joe Vitalis hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Brodryk Benton in the second quarter for the lone B-P touchdown.

Broadalbin-Perth slipped to 3-5 overall with the loss.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 48, Gloversville 15

BURNT HILLS — D.J. Lashley rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries to power Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a Class A victory over Gloversville.

Lashley scored on runs of 30 and 67 yards for the Spartans who finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record.

John Shaw had a 39-yard touchdown run for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, while Mike LeVan caught touchdown passes of 32 and 33 yards from Darien LaPietro.

Jake Stanko and Jakai Townsend also rushed for touchdowns for the Spartans, who are coached by Gloversville graduate Matt Shell.

Jared Malagisi scored on a 3-yard run for Gloversville (3-5 overall), which had its three-game win streak snapped. Petey Raldiris hauled in a 5-yard touchdown pass from William Galster to close out the Huskies’ scoring.

Malagisi finished with 128 rushing yards for Gloversville.

South Glens Falls 34, Amsterdam 6

SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Connor Bovair threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns to lead South Glens Falls to its first-ever victory over Amsterdam.

Bovair threw touchdown passes of 7, 89 and 2 yards — all in the second quarter — for the Bulldogs.

With the victory, South Glens Falls earned the No. 4 seed in the Class A playoffs and a semifinal date with top-seeded Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake next Friday.

Dylan Schrammel had six catches for 148 yards and a touchdown for South Glens Falls (5-3 overall, 4-3 Class A). Schrammel also rushed for a touchdown.

Kyle Holub and Brandon Yando had touchdown catches for the Bulldogs, while Kevin Mickel added an 83-yard touchdown run.

It was the fourth straight loss for Amsterdam (3-5 overall, 3-4 Class A), who have been outscored 161-38 in their last four outings.

Jacob Greco scored the lone touchdown for the Rams on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
