Several FMCC student-athletes honored for academic success

JOHNSTOWN — Each year the NJCAA awards student athletes for their excellence not only on the playing field, but in the classroom. 

This year, multiple Fulton-Montgomery Community College athletes were recognized for their academic efforts. 

Volleyball’s Jenna Putnam was named to a National Junior College Athletic Association second-team Academic All-American, for achieving a GPA over a 3.8. 

Megan Ryder (volleyball), Charlene Moreira (softball) and Austin Heroth (men’s soccer) were selected NJCAA third-team Academic All-Americans. 

A total of 10 other Raider athletes were selected for the Region III All-Region Academic Award for earning a 3.5 GPA or better. 

Putnam, Heroth, Moreira and Ryder all earned all-region honors.

Also earning all-region honors for FMCC were Renee Bellinger (cross country), Miranda Nethaway (volleyball), Emily Orminski (volleyball), Wolfgang Reinke (men’s soccer) and Gabrielle Smith (volleyball).
