Fort Plain’s Stockwell earns all-state honors

Fort Plain’s Michaela Stockwell was the lone area player named to the New York State Sportswriters Association Softball All-Star team.

Stockwell was named to the third team in Class D.

Stockwell, a freshman, helped the Lady Hilltoppers post a 12-5 overall record this season.

A total of 41 players from Section II earned all-state honors.

In Class AA, Shenendehowa’s Nicole McCarvill and Troy’s Hunter Levesque were named to the first team, while Columbia’s Maddie Burns was named to the second team.

Also earning all-state honors in Class AA were Shaker’s Allie Lajeunesse (third team), Columbia’s Jennah Hogan (fourth team), Shaker’s Meg Kutey (fourth team), Troy’s Madison Rifenberick (fifth team), Ballston Spa’s Ana Gold (sixth team) and Colonie’s Sarah Baluch (seventh team).

Binghamton’s Paige Rauch was named Class AA Player of the Year, while East Meadow’s Stew Fritz was named Coach of the Year.

South Glens Falls’ Amber Bourdeau was named first team in Class A, while Averill Park’s Kat Stackrow was named to the second team.

Averill Park also had Kristin Morin (sixth team) and Jadyn Lee (seventh team) earn all-state honors.

Other Section II all-state honorees in Class A included Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Kristen Langdon (third team), South Glens Falls’ Maddy Capozucca (fourth team), Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Chloe Lewandowski (fifth team) and Mohonasen’s Audrie Marz (seventh team).

Maine-Endwell’s Emily Hess was named the Class A Player of the Year, while Williamsville East’s Chris Durr was named Coach of the Year.

Cohoes’ Isabelle DeChiaro and Ichabod Crane’s Calista Phippen were named to the first team in Class B, while Cohoes’ Lily Sencer and Ichabod Crane’s Madison Saccento were named to the second team.

Also earning all-state honors in Class B were Schuylerville’s Lauren Kelleher (third team), Ichabod Crane’s Gabby Cox (fourth team) and Cohoes’ Haleigh Burgess (fifth team)

Solvay’s Lauren Nichols was named Player of the Year, while Solvay’s Phil Merrill was named Coach of the Year.

In Class C, Greenville’s Ava Fitzmaurice earned first-team honors, while Greenwich’s Rachel Hall and Hoosic Valley’s Camille Coyne were named to the second team.

Lake George’s Rebecca Jeager and Tyler Bergman were named to the third team along with Mechanicville’s Madison Herrington and Amanda Kenyon.

Also earning all-state honors in Class C were Duanesburg’s Alexa Lombardoni (fourth team), Chatham’s Baylee Cox (fifth team), Greenwich’s Sabrina Whitehouse (fifth team) and Maple Hill’s Arianna Papas (fifth team).

Bishop Kearney’s Emily Phelan was named Player of the Year in Class C, while Bishop Kearney’s Dave Herbst was named Coach of the Year.

In Class D, Salem’s Jess Vidal was named first-team all-state, while Fort Ann’s Kayla Bailey was named to the second team.

Fort Ann’s Allison Vrooman (third team), Salem’s Kyndra Riche (fourth team) and Fort Ann’s Taylor Foran (fourth team) also earned all-state honors in Class D.

Deposit’s Makenzie Stiles was named Class D Player of the Year, while Edmeston’s Ken Plows was named Coach of the Year.
