Blowers doubles up at Royal

CAROGA LAKE — Several local riders were among the winners during STR/Monster Energy Supercross competition Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Fonda’s Tyler Blowers, Johnstown’s Casey Battisti, Broadalbin’s Zach Finch, Johnstown’s Bennett Melita, Stratford’s Tom Hogan, Johnstown’s Maxx Miller and Johnstown’s Todd Cleveland all claimed victories Wednesday.

Blowers swept all four of his motos to win the 122-250 novice and 122-open novice classes, while Johnstown’s Maxx Miller picked up wins in both 50cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old motos to earn a victory in the class.

Battisti won both motos to claim the 122-open amateur class. He also placed third in the 122-250 amateur class.

Melita was third in the first moto and first in the second moto to earn the victory in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class. Melita also was second in the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class and fourth in the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class.

Finch swept both motos to win the 10-inch pit bike class.

Cleveland and Hogan each won both of their motos to claim wins in the plus-30 expert and plus-40 amateur classes, respectively.

In addition to Blowers, Esperance’s Mark Molesky earned wins in two separate classes. Molesky won three of his four motos on the night to win the 122-250 amateur and schoolboy classes.

In the quad classes, Delanson’s Madeliene Rose (mini quad 50cc), Ballston Spa’s Cody Milanese (mini quad 51-90cc), Troy’s Peter Miller (quad amateur), Baldwinsville’s Ryan Pyle (quad expert), Queensbury’s Connor Cross (quad novice) and Queensbury’s Mason St. John-Lemery (quad schoolboy) all claimed victories.

Other winners included Middle Grove’s Kenneth DeRidder (122-125 two-stroke), Johnsonville’s Brian Falzo (122-open expert), East Berne’s Triton Hofelich (50cc pee wee junior 4-6), Clarkville’s Anthony Hill (junior mini 9-11), Cobleskill’s Joe Edwards (mini 80 12-15), Westerlo’s Blake Shaver (mini 80 9-11), Saratoga Springs’ Isaac Lawyer (open mini 10-16), Vernon’s Justin Hardish (12-inch pit bike) and East Berne’s Ian Hofelich (plus-30 amateur).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

In the 122-125 two-stroke class, Fonda’s Carter Petersen was fourth and Nelliston’s Tyler Dygert was fifth. Peterson also was second in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.

In the 50cc pee wee junior 4-to-6-year-old class, Gloversville’s Evan Darling was second and Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was third.

Johnstown’s Brandon Handy was second in the 122-open novice class and third in the schoolboy class.

Gloversville’s Salvatore Attigiato was second in the 122-250 amateur class, while Fultonville’s Sheldon Wayman was fourth in the 122-250 novice class.

In the quad novice class, Mayfield’s Andrew Ashbey was third and Broadalbin’s Anthony Covey was fourth.

Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich was fourth in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class. Zelich also was fourth in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class.

In the quad schoolboy class, Fonda’s Skyler Olmstead was second, Mayfield’s Jordan Miller was third and Amsterdam’s Courtney Trombley was fifth.

Gloversville’s Brian Stewart was second in the 10-inch pit bike class, while Tribes Hill’s Mathew Dettenrieder was fourth in the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class.

In the plus-30 amateur class, Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was third and Caroga Lake’s Chad Stumpf was fourth.

Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-30 expert class, while Gloversville’s Dennis Fitzpatrick was second in the plus-40 amateur class.

Broadalbin’s Colby Watras was second in the quad amateur class.

A field of 160 riders competed Wednesday.
