Mohawks rally past Saugerties, 5-4

SAUGERTIES — Liam Wilson belted a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to lead Amsterdam to a 5-4 victory over Saugerties in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Saturday at Cantine Veterans Memorial Field.

Wilson finished the game 3-for-5 with a home run, double, three RBIs and a run scored.

The Mohawks led 3-1 after the top of the seventh innings before the Stallions scored three times to take a 4-3 advantage.

Julian Gallup and Dan Maynard each had two singles for Amsterdam, while Eric Rivera and Matt Gorski each had singles.

Sam Russo was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored for Saugerties, while Tyler Kelder had two singles. Nick Campana, Andrew Taft and Matt Forlow all had doubles for the Stallions.

Johnstown graduate Joe Nellis pitched one inning of relief for Saugerties, allowing one run, striking out one and walking two.

Amsterdam (23-7 overall) is scheduled to travel to Boonville today to face Adirondack at 3 p.m.
