Track & Field Roundup: Johnstown girls place second at Section II Group 3 meet

RAVENA — The Johnstown girls track and field team placed second at the Section II Group 3 Championships at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School on Wednesday.

Taconic Hills won the team title with 102 points, while Johnstown was second with 95.5 points. Cohoes (92 points), Cobleskill-Richmondville (66.5) and Glens Falls (56.5) rounded out the top five. Broadalbin-Perth was sixth with 47 points.

Molly Lake was third in the 800 meters for Johnstown with a time of 2:34.80.

Aylene Newman was third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:28.50. She also was second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:50.82, while Julia Sarullo (11:55.77) was third. Sarullo also placed fourth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:10.02.

Jenna Thompson (1:04.68) was fourth in the 400 meters for the Lady Bills, while Abigail Gottung was second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.07 seconds. Gottung was third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.23, while Molly Sear (1:13.55) was fourth.

Briana Dean was third in the high jump for Johnstown with a height of 4-8, while Emily Miles was fourth with a height of 4-6.

Alayna Gray was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 8-0 for the Lady Bills.

Sear (33-5 1/4) was fourth in the triple jump, while Lauryn Wilson (31-0) was sixth.

Raina Danylak was third in the pentathlon for Johnstown with a total of 1,875 points.

Johnstown won the 4 x 800 relay as the team of Lake, Gray, Newman and Gottung posted a time of 10:17.25.

Johnstown was fourth in the 4 x 100 relay as the team of Wilson, Jordan Rose, Katie Romano and Thompson posted a time of 54.03 seconds.

The team of Sear, Casey Vanvalkenburgh, Rose and Gottung placed third in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 4:17.58.

Victoria Laurange won the pentathlon for Broadalbin-Perth with 2,104 points, while B-P’s Cassandra Bown was fifth with 1,339 points.

Eliana Fraser was fifth in the 100 meters for the Lady Patriots with a time of 13.89 seconds.

Kara Sowle was third in the 400 meters for B-P with a time of 1:04.59, while Hailey Parrotti was third in the triple jump with a leap of 33-9.

Gabrielle Larsen (8:03.14) was second in the 2,000-meter steeplechase for the Lady Patriots. She also was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:17.65.

Broadalbin-Perth placed third in the 4 x 100 relay as the team of Tesa Brody, Fraser, Meghan O’Connor and Parrotti posted a time of 53.44 seconds.

Brody, Amirah Carsno, Jordyn DeNeuville and Larsen teamed up to place fifth in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 4:27.85, while Brody, DeNeuville, Madison Fariello and Larsen were fourth in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 10:45.33.

In the boys meet, Broadalbin-Perth was fourth with 72 points and Johnstown was seventh with 41 points.

Albany Academy won the boys team title with 104.5 points, Taconic Hills (94 points) was second and Cobleskill-Richmondville (74) was third.

Broadalbin-Perth’s Jeff Derwin was a double winner, claiming victories in the shot put and discus.

Derwin won the shot put with a throw of 52-3 and the discus with a throw of 163-7.

Chris Wagner (16.77 seconds) was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles for the Patriots. He also placed second in the pole vault with a height of 13-4.

Joey Vitalis (11:00.45) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for B-P, while James Mosher (11:18.69) was sixth.

Jacob Bunker (20-2 3/4) was fifth in the long jump for the Patriots.

Ivan Roberts (12.09 seconds) was sixth in the 100 meters for B-P, while Zach Johnson (53.72) was sixth in the 400 meters. Johnson also tied for fifth with teammate Sean Meher in the high jump with a height of 5-8. Meher also placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 38-9 1/4.

Brandon Akey (42-4 1/2) was sixth in the shot put for the Patriots, while Marcos Viera (123-10) was fifth in the discus.

Niko Mancini (2,281) was third in the pentathlon for B-P, while Kolbe Waldvogel (2,053) was sixth.

Broadalbin-Perth won the 4 x 100 relay as the team of Bunker, Troy Monroe, Roberts and Wagner posted a time of 44.98 seconds.

In the 4 x 800 relay, B-P’s Lance Jennings, Monroe, Mosher and Vitalis placed fourth with a time of 8:43.37.

Christian Solby was third in the 800 meters for Johnstown with a time of 2:02.69, while Erik Frank (1:02.31) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.

Brandon Mraz (10:51.15) was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Sir Bills.

Nick Frasier was third in the high jump for Johnstown with a height of 6-0. He also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-2 3/4.

Thomas Lizio (116-5) was sixth in the discus for the Sir Bills.

The team of Solby, Zachary Ropeter, Nick Frasier and Frank placed fourth in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3:36.70.

Solby, Ropeter, Spencer Kotwasinski and Frank teamed up to placed second in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 8:36.73.

Gloversville girls ninth at sectionals

AVERILL PARK — The Gloversville girls were ninth at the Section II Group 2 Championships at Averill Park High School on Wednesday.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake won the team title with 128 points, Queensbury was second with 110 points and Holy Names was third with 74 points. Gloversville was ninth with a total of 24 points.

Sierra Fancher won the triple jump for Gloversville with a leap of 34-7.

Madison Fancher was second in the high jump with a height of 5-2 for the Huskies. She also was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.68 seconds.

Brianna Port was fifth in the long jump for Gloversville with a leap of 15-2 3/4.

In the boys meet, Gloversville placed 10th with 5 points. Queensbury won the team title with 121.5 points, host Averill Park was second with 98 points and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was third with 92 points.

The Huskies placed fourth in the 4 x 100 relay as the team of Ryan Smith, William Galster, Robert Ward and Patrick Raldiris posted a time of 48.19 seconds.

Gloversville placed sixth in the 4 x 400 relay as the team of Jackson Peck, Sam Poulin, Raldiris and Galster finished with a time of 3:41.29.
