H.S. Softball Roundup: Fort Plain advances to semifinals

FORT PLAIN — Michaela Stockwell went 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and triple and two RBIs to lead fourth-seeded Fort Plain to a 23-1 victory over fifth-seeded New Lebanon in a Section II Class D softball tournament quarterfinal game.

The Lady Hilltoppers finished with 22 hits.

Sierra Logan went 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBIs for Fort Plain (12-4 overall), while Amber Douglas was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Kendall Kennedy and Stockwell combined on a one-hitter for the Lady Hilltoppers.

Meghan O’Brien had the lone hit for New Lebanon.

The Lady Hilltoppers advanced to today’s semifinals to face top-seeded Salem at Moreau Rec in South Glens Falls at 4:30 p.m.

Salem posted a 20-0 victory over eighth-seeded Heatly in its quarterfinal game Tuesday.

In the other semifinal game, seventh-seeded Hartford will face third-seeded Fort Ann.

Class A Quarterfinals

Burnt Hills 9, Amsterdam 0

BURNT HILLS — Kristen Langdon finished with 14 strikeouts to lead second-seeded Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a victory over 10th-seeded Amsterdam in the Class A quarterfinals.

Langdon allowed just three hits in seven innings of work. She also had three hits and an RBI for the Spartans.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake scored six of its runs in the fifth inning to break the game open.

Chloe Lewandowski added two hits and two RBIs for the Spartans, while Courtney Kruzikas had three hits and an RBI.

Emma Patrei had two singles for Amsterdam.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is scheduled to face sixth-seeded Scotia-Glenville today in the Class A semifinals at Veeder Park in Colonie. The Tartans posted a 4-0 victory over third-seeded Lansingburgh in their quarterfinal game Monday.

In the other semifinal game, top-seeded South Glens Falls is set to face fourth-seeded Averill Park. Both games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Amsterdam finished its season with a 10-12 overall record.
